Porvoo perambulation
All my life I have travelled between Porvoo and Helsinki. Mainly by bus or car, but also by bike and even walking. In July 2015 I carried out ”Porvoo perambulation”; I walked that 50 kilometers journey in six days. I tried to move as slowly as I could: taking my time reading books by the road, sleeping by the road in bushes, at friends or B&Bs. Every day I stayed several hours in one spot painting a landscape. Painting helped me to travel slowlier. Also my slow perambulation made it possible to linger by the familiar views that have flashed by hundreds of times in a bus window.
To Porvoo, as to many places, you can get from Helsinki by either the faster motorway or a bit slowlier by the older and prettier highway. My perambulation went of course by the Old Highway, wich as an undefinable consept is also the subject of my paintings.
