Dinosaur Egg – 65 million years BC
For a long time I have collected hubcaps from the side of the road. I have built many sculptures out of the which I call the ”Dinosaur Egg”. The material is facinatingly in between ugly and beautifull, sort of luxus and garbage. In our era of increasing enviromental problems it also carries a strong political signifigance. The name Dinosaur Egg refers to the origin of fossil fuels and to cars as modern dinosaurs whose faith is combined with the climatechange.
In 2009 I built the Dinosaur Egg in Kirkkopuisto, Jyväskylä into a form of a meteor crashing down from the space. The part of the name refers to the comet that crushed into Mexico Bay 65 million years ago and launched a climate change that ended the time of the dinosaurs.
